Doverhouse Lions Blues vs Bedfont Eagles
We take a lot of Pride and some positives from the second half.
Doverhouse Lions Blues U16 vs Bedfont Eagles
The last time we played Doverhouse we weren’t a team full off confidence and we lost by them dominating the whole game and they won it pretty easily. But this time round we were a different team a team with confidence and for the first 20 mins of this game Bedfont looked the better team and was on even par with Doverhouse and created a couple off chances, but just couldn’t put them away. Like I said the game was even and Bedfont passed the ball around and frustrated Doverhouse just for a little bit of the first half. But then it happened again, Bedfont gave Doverhouse 3 sloppy goals before halftime. If there’s one thing you don’t do is give away sloppy goals to a team that’s top of the league and full off the confidence. So at halftime I had to lift the boys and we knew it was going to be hard task to get the goals back, but I told the boys not to give up and didn’t. I told them to go out there and show some pride and that’s what they did, in my eyes the boys could not of tried any harder. So I had to change the way we were playing. I changed our formation, to a formation that we had never tried before. It worked really well and to be fair, the boys did really well and it put Doverhouse under a lot of pressure with Bedfont playing higher up the pitch, winning the ball back in their half. Then Bedfont created a chance with Sidney beating their defence with a through ball from Jordan, but with the defender putting Sidney under pressure he just couldn’t strike it good enough, and it ended up being an easy save for their keeper. Bedfont then had a chance breaking down the left, Ryan Bishton cutting back in from the left and putting a cross over into their box which they cleared, but the clearance went straight to Bradley Vaughan who hit a great shot from just outside the box it looked goal bound before Doverhouse keeper made a great save. At this time if that had gone in I think it would off lifted Bedfont to and give them a bit of believe to push on more. But after this Doverhouse made some substitutions and changed their formation a couple of times themselves. Doverhouse then started to get back into the game and because of all the hard work that Bedfont had put in, they started to tire halfway through the second half and I had to make a couple of changes because of this, and because this Bedfont lost a bit off rhythm in their play. To be fair to Doverhouse they defended well and held on to all the pressure that Bedfont threw at them. Then Doverhouse started to put Bedfont onto the back foot and with about 15mins to go they started to create chances and Mitchell make a couple of great saves to keep the score at 3-0. Then with 10mins to go Doverhouse scored to make it 4-0. That hurt Bedfont but there was more to come from Doverhouse and they scored again with 5mins left 5-0. That’s how it finished. In summing up today’s game I would say that, we showed we can compete with good teams when we are on our game. But if we are going to compete with the good teams we are going to have to cut out giving away sloppy goals. We take a lot of Pride and some positives from the second half. Now we move on to next week’s game.
