With Bedfont in action for the first time in 2022 after nearly 4 weeks off and only one training session under our belts we knew this was going to be tough….
Sports had a couple of players out with illness, injury or not available but never the less we still had a strong squad for our away fixture v Worplesdon Rangers.
Sports started the better of the two teams with us pressuring Worplesdon Rangers for virtually the whole of the first half with there goalkeeper making some fantastic saves. Callahan broke the deadlock with a fine shot from out side the box into the bottom right corner 1-0 sports. Half time came with sports winning the first half…. WorplesdonRangers Didn’t pose any danger in the first half but the players was warned complacency could cost us….
The second half started and it was a reverse of the first half with Bedfont pinned in and not being able to get out of our half…. WorplesdonRangers Was applying pressure to sorts defence and goal keeper, it was just inevitable that WorplesdonRangerswas going to create chances and they did….. 1-1 and the game was even….. this shock Sports players up and we started to press back with some fine play which see Callahan intercept a poor pass and smash the ball in the top corner of the home teams goal 2-1 …..
this didn’t stop WorplesdonRangers come back and press sports who held out with Matty making probably the save of the season with an unbelievable stop to keep his team still in the lead…… our defence held out but the pressure was to much and we conceded late on 2-2 final score with sports disappointed and WorplesdonRangers Celebrating like they had won a cup final a draw was probably a fair result with WorplesdonRangers playing very well in the second half.
This will be a tough place to come for some teams so 4 points from our two encounters with them is a good return….
Man of the match Matty ….
