Eagles pushed by good Guildford team

Eagles welcomed back Alex from injury and Nojus from Covid both players adding quality to the side…. Billy unfortunately didn’t manage to pass a fitness test so was left out for another week to hopefully be back in the squad for next week’s tough game against Woking…
Eagles welcomed Guildford City to today’s game with Guildford siting down the bottom end of the table but as we found out the league position doesn’t reflect there ability.
Eagles started well with some nest play seeing Nojus bare down on goal to make it 1-0 Eagles ?.
That was really it from the first half as for some reason our players decided to not play anymore letting in Guildford twice for them to lead at half time 2-1……
To say me and Leah wasn’t happy was an understatement…… some harsh but fair words was had from me to every player at half time as I felt not one player was pulling there weight and that they was doing there selves and the parents a dis justice who was standing on the sidelines freezing ?……
Well I think that had the desired effect and the second half was completely different…. We had heart , passion and a desire to wanting to win….. the back 4 played with purpose and hunger…. The singers were singers and stayed wide ….. the midfield 3 turned up and dominated the midfield allowed Callahan and Nojus to get into the game….. this followed another goal from Nojus , a screamer from Charlie Borg a well taken run and finish from Callahan and a lovely slotted goal from Anthony to end the game 5-2 hence the comment above “a game of two half’s”
Joe Cooper got parents player of the match…. Joe was awesome in the second half, Joe’s runs from midfield was second to none ….. joe helped drive the come back….
