3 Massive points towards survival

Eagles knew that a win would move them above Teddington & also move them 3 points clear of Carshalton. Everybody was available this week, meaning 5 subs. This is good for competition for starting places, but also means that it can be difficult to give everybody equal pitch time. So to the game, again we started the slower, maybe nerves or that Carshalton wanted to get the upper hand?? When we finally got into our stride, Kyle on his Birthday, notched the opener. This definitely settled the nerves a we managed to play some neater football, resulting in a couple of corners. We didn't manage to muster an attempt on target from these, but soon after Billy smashed in the 2nd goal from 20 yards, giving the keeper no chance. So 2-0, but still Carshalton kept on coming at us & only last minute tackles our good positional play made sure we went in 2-0 to the good.
At half time, we emphasised the need to keep the tempo up & also stated that last week Carshalton had been 2-0 down before going on to win 6-2. So they knew what they had to do!
Carshalton came out determined to get back into the game & for the 1st 10 minutes put us under pressure, but the midfield & backline kept solid. Eagles got the all important 3rd goal, when Cam, went down the wing beat the defender & keeper & slotted into the net. Carshalton again came back into the game & finally got on the scoresheet, a cross from the right feel straight to their player who placed it into the empty net. So a nervous final 10 minutes?? The boys managed & coped very well in this period & made sure we gained all 3 points. So mission 1 accomplished, now we move onto our next mission away to Carshalton. Lets keep the belief & together we can make sure we stay in this league.
