Could of been 3-3!!

Oxshott Royals 0 Bedfont Eagles 0

Today we returned to League action after last weeks County Cup WIN. We knew we would be without Yasen & also had to do without Billy who was laid up in his sickbed. On the other side of the coin, we had Mik & Kyle back, who were cup tied last week & new signing Sean was also available. So 14 players available and just a little matter of a game against an Oxshott side that had already beaten us twice this season. Pre-match the team were reminded about the importance of staying in this division & how we could achieve this. So onto the warm-up, everything was going fine until Jake pulled up & also Zak was still feeling the after effects of last week, so a little reshuffle was required.
The first half started very slowly for the Eagles and it took us 10 minutes to find our feet on a very poor playing surface. I played there about 20 years ago & the only change was that the weeds were missing from the pitch. we finally started to get a grip with the opposition & were now gaining territory in a more advance area. Still players were waiting for the ball, instead of gambling. But we kept the oppo out & the half time whistle went. The boys were in no uncertain terms reminded of what was required & that if we could snatch a goal it could be enough to take all 3 points.
The 2nd half started slightly better for Eagles & we were rewarded with a couple of corners, but try as we might we didn't muster a shot on target from these set pieces. Oxshott continued to apply pressure & Daniel had to be at his best on 3 occasions, to make sure they didn't score. Ryan had an effort just clear the bar from another corner. With 3 minutes remaining Sean had to be replaced, due to cramp, great effort for his first game back in 4 months. In the dying seconds we had a great chance to nick all 3 points, but it wasn't to be, so another point towards safety. No game next week, but training Wednesday.
Well battled today, at times it wasn't pretty, but we need to grind out these points!!

MOM.
Close today, but I choose Sean Porter
