Our first serious game of pre season was a tough battle with top division South Reading from the East Berks league.
Playing without any recognized center backs was never going to be easy and so it proved. However we worked out a way of playing, adapted when it wasn't going well and accelerated to a good win once it was.
Goals from Marli put us in a commanding position after going behind early in the game, and an equalizer meant Nassim had to step up with a fantastic brace finished the game with us in control and the rewards.
The scoreline suggests a closer game than the technical ability showed. After a slow start we took control and but for poor finishing would have won the game a lot earlier than we did.
However 70 tough minutes with just 12 men will have done the boys no harm, a tough 70 minutes as Alfie's black eye shows.
This has been our quietest preseason by far in terms of games with no pitches available,or boys away, so it looks like most of our work will need to be done once the season has started.
There's real competition for places, and were looking forward to seeing how the boys cope.
