Ewell looking over your shoulders now!!

Ewell Saxons 1 Eagles 4

Eagles arrived early for this most win fixture, knowing that if they lost, they would all but mathmatically be out of the promotion race. A good warm up & team talk was taking in by all the boys. The game finally got under way & the team was battling for each other & also encouraging each other. Also unlike last week, we had people on the bench. An even first 5 minutes were each team had chances, but couldn't find the killer touch, then after only half clearing a corner, an Ewell player struck the ball through a crowd and we were 1-0 down. The attitude of the boys was a credit as they realised there was still 60 minutes to go and we were against the slope and the wind. Within 5 minutes we were on level terms again as Cain scored & then it was 2-0 nil, as Ewell failed to deal with a corner & Cain again fired the ball into the top corner. By now the fret of the oppositions number 10 had gone off injured & this made the back fours job alot easier. so 2-1 up at half time.
A few changes to the right hand side of the team had seen Jake & Jay come on for Jordan & Zola and the same work ethic was required by the subs. The team was being encouraged from within the team and after 45 minutes Fabio came on for Billy, this was to be a master stroke as with only his second touch of the ball he volleyed in from 25 yards into the top right hand corner. 3-1 and now the team was knocking the ball around using the little width that was available. Still Ewell were trying hard to break down the resilient Eagles defence and after a mistake at the back, just outside the box, the other defenders came in to help. Now Samurai had come on for Cam, and after another flowing move, Samurai looped the ball into the net via his left foot!!! 4-1. There was still chances for eaither team, but either good goalkeeping or poor finishing meant the score finished 4-1 to the Eagles.

Well done boys, after last weeks disaster, to come back in this way shows great character & the way you played as a team was great to see.

Lets bring this new found team spirit with us to training on Friday.
