A Win for Eagles

An away fixture to local rivals Spelthorne on a cold Sunday morning is just what the doctor ordered.

We started the first of four 10 minute periods really sloppy today as we normally start fast. Spelthorne go 1-0 up straight from the corner spot as They curl it straight in. Archie rolls the ball out to Bradley who beats 2 players before putting in a lovely cross but nobody can get on the end of it. Spelthorne then have a break down the opposite flank and a good cross picks out 1 of there players but fortunately he puts it wide. From that goal kick Archie plays to Bradley who beats his man but his shot is blocked and rolls harmlessly to there goalie. Spelthorne then try playing out from the back but Billy the rock Nixon intercepts a pass runs with it before firing low and hard into the bottom corner of the net. To celebrate Brad shines Billy's boots lol. 1-1 and another chance to us as Charlie Borg steals the ball but his shot goes just wide of the post. A little bit of luck then puts us 2-1 up as a back pass goes through their keepers hands and into the net. A Spelthorne break away sees them firing wide and then a Bradley burst beats 2 players but his shot is pushed behind for a corner. From the resulting corner the ball comes out to Billy Nixon who shoots wide. Spelthorne then have a good chance as Archie goes 1 on 1 with there player and pulls off a good save.

The start of the 2nd period and Billy has a chance saved, the ball falls to Natan but he can't get his shot away. Bradley then steals the ball in the middle of the park and tries his luck from distance but his shot is well saved. Spelthorne player Joe goes clean through but Archie stands strong and makes a great save. Another chance for Spelthorne but again Archie saves this time with his feet.

The 3rd period begins with Spelthorne winning a free kick which is smashed into our net by their player Joe. 2-2 and game on. Bradley then breaks away but his shot goes wide. A good bit of strength from Billy out on the touch line who then cuts inside and shoots but it is well saved by their goalie. Archie plays the ball out to Bradley who cuts inside his man, he then goes past the 2nd and 3rd man on the outside before firing low and hard across the keeper and into the net. 3-2 Bedfont and a long range effort from Bradley is saved but nobody their following up to tap in. A rare break from Spelthorne sees their player Joe clean through but he puts it just past the post.

The 4th and final period begins with Richard Reed going past his man but then tackled just as he is about to shoot. Spelthorne play a goal kick short, Natan presses his man steals the ball and coolly slots into the bottom corner. 4-2 Bedfont. It's quickly 4-3 as their little Joe runs with it and finishes well across Archie. We then break down the left with Richard Reed beating his man but his shot is saved at the near post. Archie plays from the back to Bradley who passes first time to Natan. Natan tries passing to Billy who nips in front of his player goes through and smashes home. 5-3 Another good run and shot from Richard Reed is well saved by their keeper.

The game finishes 5-3 to the Eagles and a thoroughly deserved win.
