Eagles edge Colts in 16 Goal Thriller!

On the first real chilly October match day, Tim Pitt took creative control of the Eagles U7s match Vs Ashford Town Colts U7s/U8s.

With the Colts struggling to field a full U7s team, they were given permission to draft in a few U8s for the tie. 4 Colts players were visibly a year above the Eagles but this did not deter the lads from going about their business.

Oskar in goal was his usual majestic self and with the eagles looking the most likely to take the lead, Colts sneaked a goal in the first period to stun the Eagles crowd.

A swift 1st period team shuffle from Tim Van Gaal ensured the eagles pressed high up the pitch in search of the equalizer, then like a proverbial London bus, Goals from Charley Bayne and Aaron Bull ensured the lads went in at half time 2-1 up.

What was to follow was absorbing to watch:

4-6 and at this point... Van Gaals reputation was on the line... A quick reshuffle of the team was swiftly followed by 5.... Yes 5 unanswered goals for The Eagles. Oskar Zolnierek, Billy Simpson, Charley Bayne all adding 1 each with Aaron Bull adding 2 more to complete his Hat-trick.

The Colts grabbed another goal with a few minutes to go but the lads saw the game out to finish victorious in a 9-7 thriller.

Some great teamwork from Jan Koltan, Mackyi McGirr-Gray and Jack Clarke, meant the boys have Played 3, Won 2 & Lost 1 in 2014/15
