Eagles, a 6 goal thriller.

Eagles U9’s took on Sutton Utd at home, after last weeks battling win against Kingstonian Youth Royals, Manager Glen wanted the same effort from the lads in his team talk.

After lads removed their anti hair dryer ear plugs the game kicked off, again we started slowly and Sutton where the better team in the 1st quarter and scored 1-0.

The early part of the 2nd quarter saw the lads up their game, Captain Jake got a penalty which Rio smashed into the top corner 1-1. Then the wheels came off, Morgan the cat was doing his best to keep Sutton out with Jay, Frankie and Cole all trying their best in defence, but Sutton scored a goal in the 2nd & 3rd quarter and raced into a 3-1 lead.

So it looked like it was game over, no not for the Eagles. Jake, Harrison and Dan started to put pressure on Sutton’s goal and we came back into the game. Cole also joined in upfront and chased the ball into Suttons corner flag, He didn’t give up and trough a crowd of players he came up with the ball, his pass found Captain Jake, he pulled the trigger and it went like a rocket in the top corner 2-3, the club may fine Jake for a burnt net lol.

The lads pushed forward as a team in the last quarter, Jake found Emon who turned and finished in the box 3-3 (3 in 3 for Emon) Sutton attacked again with a cracking shot on our goal, it looked like they had won the game but Morgan the Cat dived low to his left and pushed it round the post (what a save), at that point the ref blew for full-time.

Another battling performance by the team but we need to start better in every game …Come on Eagles
