U9’s win 1st Trophy of the season…

Eagles U9’s took on SFCC Galaxy Planets away in the last game of a three week round robin, with the lads winning the opening two games they were in fine voice on the way to the game (thank you Frankie). We arrived to the sound of Church bells (which were very pleasant) but no home team.

We then found them in the fog and it was game on, for manager Glen Wise the whole squad was available, so the starting formation was…….Ye old Christmas tree lol, the game was set out in 4 x 12.5mins Quarters

1st Qt

For the 1st 8 minutes Eagles where probing SGP to see how strong they were, Eagles created a hatful of chances and went close but no score, then a quick burst from the back by Jay he found Jake, Jake then found Harrison who slipped in Joe to make it 1-0

1-0

2nd Qt

The 2nd quarter saw SGP come out stronger in attacking our goal but Eagles stood firm with excellent defending by Jay, Cole, Frankie, Dan and Emon but the man of the quarter was Morgan the Cat keeping out SGF with great saves and ball handling, to be honest the whole team defended well.

1-0

3rd Qt

Now it was the turn of our strike force Joe, Harrison Jake and Rio started with a bang, shots started to bombard the SGP goal, how long could they hold out? Not for long Rio found Jake with an excellent pass and the skipper fired it in for 2-0.

Harrison was then fouled on the touch line, up stepped Dan, we told him to try and get it on target, well he hit a rocket that flew passed everyone to make it 3-0. Eagles wanted to see out the half 3-0 but conceded a corner, SGF took it and the ball hit everyone on the way in (even the Tea lady) to make it 3-1

3-1

4th Qt

With the Team playing as a complete unit Manager Glen started to move his formation around and with great results. Rio found Emon who scored his “1st” goal for eagles (well done young man) 4-1, then Dan’s second rocket towards goal saw Jake slide in (Lineker style) and it was 5-1, Rio the assist king then found Joe and it was 6-1, to cap it off Captain Jake scored the 7th and his hat-trick.

7-1

Note to the lads…today as a team you where fantastic from goalkeeping, defending and attacking a great performance, so well done in winning the 1st trophy of the season

Goal Scorers: Jake Beck 3 (Hat Trick Hero), Joe Warren 2, Dan Banks 1, Emon Masoudi 1
