Eagles U9’s took on Spelthorne Sports Sky away in the 5th game of the season, after last weeks 11-0 win the lads where in good spirits. Unfortunately Morgan Benn and Cole Paul being unavailable for the game so we started with seven.
Spelthorne started the brighter and went 1-0 up with 5mins gone, firing pass Emon Masoudi. The lads battled back and the game went from end to end in the 1st quarter but we couldn’t score.
1st Qt 0-1
The lads took to the field for the 2nd quarter with a strong team talk from manager Glen Wise, but fell behind from the restart and it was 2-0.
2nd Qt 0-2
Again we huffed and puffed but could not brake down Spelthorne’s deference, Passes by Rio Monks set up Joe Warren, Harrison Wise who both went close. Captain Jake Beck was outstanding in the game and the rest of the lads should have followed his example in getting us back in the game.
With Jay Taylor and Frankie Macfarlane doing some excellent defending and the team pushing to get us back in the game, Spelthorne broke twice and scored 2 more goals in the 3rd quarter.
3rd Qt 0-4
Jake Beck went in goal for the 4th quarter and the lads went on the attack, at times we picked the wrong passes and then the wrong time to shoot that didn’t help our cause.
Spelthorne stood fast and ran out the game 4-0, a cracking game of football and it’s hard to say when you lose.
F-T 0-4
