Goals change games,

This weekend was the second part of a double header against a very good Manorcroft team.

However, in the first 20 minutes we outplayed them and had 3 excellent chances fall to Asa who couldn't quite manage to put any away.

Good team play and hard work earned us the upper hand, and that's when you have to strike.

For the second week in a row we conceded a free kick some 20+ yards out, was dispatched by MUJFC's best player Luca 17. If I'm honest I felt he was the difference over the two games. His ability to control the ball and tempo of the game was impressive.

We near the end of the season and I think with the first goal the lads efforts dropped and maybe tiredness ensued. After conceding one, we dropped our intensity at the back and had no energy up front to win the ball back early.

We do seem to have a very high number of players coming off injured, each week when our opponents tend to hardly lose any. Perhaps with time that will change, as each substitution seems to affect any rhythm we have built.

From the first game of the season, to now I've asked for a minimum of hard work to go along with technique, I think we lost the will to work hard for 20 minutes.

However, it's not all bad.

Latham scored on his debut with a great effort where he kept his composure whilst covering plenty of ground, to cooly place the ball past the the MUJFC goal keeper. If only we'd managed one early doors.

I think it's time to get back to trying to play good football and building for the future. We have a wonderful group of players, and the future bodes well.

We are already thinking of next season, but that's no reason to give up on this one.
Last game next week against Sutton is the final chance anyone has to take something off of them.

We can only but try, maximum effort will only do.

Man of the match
Aiden, a long and hard season did nothing to dampen his spirit. He fought all the way showing good technique and heart in equal measures.
