An enjoyable friendly against a team who currently sit top of the 3rd tier of the Surrey primary league.
Not too much was said before the game, as this was a chance for the boys to relax and play, show what they have and to be honest I think they showed they had xbox's at home that they'd rather be on.
2 goals conceded from corners in the first 15 minutes without FGT playing well, was not what I'd hoped to see, but it was the mood the boys were in. Our football had been far better than FGT but the commitment came from them.
Two unchallenged corners where numerous players could do better, lead to two goals.
So changes were made and we took the game firmly by the neck, but playing against a team that are top of their division with a two goal lead was never going to be easy.
We had 40 minutes to put things right, and we did. 3 goals all from corners don't tell the story of how well we played with the ball but we did respond really well. We hit the post 3 times and their keeper was an easy man of the match for them.
We've worked worked on corners for a week or two amongst other things and before the game today, so it was brilliant to see James Levy score his first of the season between Nassim's two brilliant headers to get some reward from the game today.
It was a well worthwhile game and some new friends made along the way, great facility and good sportsmanship.
Lots learned, and players had an opportunity to stake a claim.
Man of the match was Asa who was a lesson to all in commitment and intent. Well done.
