Bedfont Eagles U14 vs Whitton Wanderers

Bedfont were up against Whitton Wanderers in the SYL cup semi final.

Whitton kicked off and for the first 10 minutes both sides were trying to get the feel of the game but Whitton had the first attempt but Nathan denied them the goal. A great attempt from josh who made great run and passed the ball to Nathan but their goalie made the save.

Bedfont did not seem to be at the best as communication was none existent and the passing seemed to go straight back to Whitton, everytime they got the ball they kicked it away without even lifting their heads. Whitton used this and kept pushing with another save from Nathan needed to stop them taking the lead. A header and a shot from Nathan was saved and the scored remained at nil – nil until a great ball played through the Whitton defenders from Liam to Tommy who turned the defenders and chipped the keeper to make it 1-0. He followed that up 5 minutes later with a great free kick. He sent it into the top of the net and the Whitton keeper could do nothing about it 2-0. With half time looming another save from Nathan kept them out of the game and shots from Nathan, Tommy and Jimmy were wide or saved.

Half time score 2-0 to Bedfont.

Bedfont kicked off and were caught totally unawares when Whitton crashed through the defence and sent the ball into the corner of the net 2-1. Bedfont came back with shots from Jimmy, Nathan, Shahan and Liam but all saved or wide. The next goal came from a great ball laid on by George over the top of the Whitton defenders for Josh to run onto it and head in to the goal 3-1.

Bedfont kept pushing with further shots Nathan, Abbas and a header from Kaine but once again these were just wide or over the top. With only 10 minutes left a great shot from outside the box from Sam went over the keeper into top corner of the net to make it 4-1. Whitton did not give and came straight back with a long ball down the wing and when Nathan ran out to clear it they took advantage and took the shot and made the final score 4-2.

Scrappy game and Bedfont made hard work of it, the first half the team lacked concentration but as the game went on they got better.

Bedfont now through to the cup final and waiting to see who they will be playing.

Man of the match was Shahan for all his work in the midfield
