Bedfont Eagles Sports U14 vs Doverhouse Blues

Bedfont were playing at home against Doverhouse Blues in the SYL Invitational cup.

Bedfont kicked off and pushed forward straight away with a shot from Shahan just over the top of the goal but Doverhouse counter attacked and shot just wide. This was followed by a free kcik given to Doverhouse but Nathan was up to the task and stopped them going ahead. Bedfont pushed back and a great run from Jimmy down the wing and his shot was saved by when the keeper dropped the ball Tommy ran in and put it in the net to make it 1-0. Doverhouse were not going to lay down and came straight back with their shot saved by Nathan again but their perseverance paid off and they got the equaliser 1-1. Minutes later they attacked again and got another 1-2, Bedfont had once again turned off and were not reacting fast enough to communicating. Shots from Tommy, Nathan and Josh were saved and the score remained 1-2 to Doverhouse at half time.

Once again Ben had to have few words with the team and try to get them back on track.

Second half started and everybody was hopeful that the team would come back into the game. Once again and the Doverhouse keeper made a great save when he was one on one with Tommy. Michael was very unlucky minutes later when his goal was disallowed for a very dubious offside decision by the linesman. Shots followed from Sam, Michael, Abbas, Tommy and on a normal day would have gone in but they were saved or missed. Doverhouse pushed back and ran through the Bedfont defence and scored. This made the score 1-3 to Doverhouse and things looked bleak for Bedfont but this seemed to give them the kick they needed and they really started to push back. While the clock ticked away and Doverhouse were confident they were through to the next round Jimmy made a run and his shot was saved but Sam slammed the ball into the corner of the net to make it 2-3. The parents kept looking at their watches who knew there was not much left and screamed every time Bedfont pushed forward. Shots from Nathan, Jimmy and Sam were saved and with only 1 minute left Nathan broke through the Doverhouse defence and scored.

Final score 3-3 and so extra time was needed to see which team would go through to the next round. Fifteen minutes each end and now Bedfont seemed really up for it.

The first half of the extra time started and Bedfont went straight on the attack with a shot from Tommy saved. Bedfont kept the ball in the Doverhouse half and a great ball from Josh to Sam and he scored 4-3. So for the first time Bedfont were now in front but they were determined to increase the lead but shots from George, Tommy and Nathan were saved. End of the first half of extra time and Bedfont were in front 4-3.

Second half of extra time and Doverhouse came out attacking; they wanted this as badly as Bedfont and were not going to roll over. They took the shot and a great save from Nathan denied them the goal. For the second time in the game it was only a Doverhouse defender who cleared the ball off the line that denied Josh the goal. More shots from Josh, Tommy, George Michael were just wide or saved and then suddenly Doverhouse made the break and just ran through the Bedfont defence and got the equaliser 4-4.
With only 5 minutes left both teams were attacking and shots from both teams were saved or wide until Abbas took a shot which the keeper saved but fumbled which allowed Abbas to run in and place the ball into the net. 5-4. Doverhouse pushed back but their time had run out as the final score remained 5-4 to Bedfont after extra time.

Man of the match was Shahan for the ground he covered while attacking and defending.

So Bedfont are now through o the Semi finals and are now waiting to see who they will draw.
