Bedfont Eagles Sports U14 vs Oxshott Royals Hawks

The first game of the New Year and weather was not as welcoming as it was last year. It was raining heavily and the wind soon took the feeling from everybody’s fingers and toes.

This report will be quiet brief as I am trying to make out what I had written on 3 rain soaked pages which have stuck together.
Bedfont pushed forward from the outset and some great passing from Jimmy to Jack E resulted in the first shot which was saved but it did not take long for Bedfont to take the lead. A great ball laid through the Oxshott players by Shahan to Josh who turned the keeper to score the first goal 1-0. Oxshott pushed back and from the attack were awarded a corner but a great save from Nathan denied them the goal. Bedfont gained the upper hand when Nathan G laid the ball onto Tommy who made a great run and sent the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0.

Bedfont were eager to get more and were awarded when Jack E headed the ball into the box for Josh to volley into the net 3-0. Further shots from Jimmy, Tommy and Shahan were saved but just before half time Sam laid the ball onto Josh who sidestepped the keeper to score 4-0. Two more shots from Tommy were saved just before the half time whistle.

The half time score was 4-0 to Bedfont and from here on I could only make small notes due to the paper falling apart.

The second half started a shot from Josh rebounding out and Jimmy ran in and knocked it past the keeper 5-0. Abbas took a shot from outside the area and it went straight through the goalies hands 6-0. Abbas had another shot which was saved but dropped and Jimmy ran in and took advantage of the goalies error to score 7-0, he followed that up minutes later with his hat trick with a great shot past the keeper 8-0. Abbas got another goal with a shot into the corner of the net 9-0. A great ball from Shahan to Jack who ran in and scored 10-0 followed minutes later with Sam running through the defenders to score 11-0. A corner awarded to Bedfont and Sam took it and sent the ball to Jack E who knocked it in to make it 12-0.

Nathan G made a great pass to Jack E who sent the ball into the net 13-0. Josh made a great run down the wing and chipped the keeper for Michael to head the ball in 14-0. Time was running out and Oxshott looked like they had enough but there was still time for Jack E to run in and chip the keeper to score 15-0 and the final goal was from Josh who ran down the pitch to score.

Final score 16-0 and a great way to start the New Year.

Man of the match was Josh for an absolute terrific performance

With the players soaking wet covered in mud and moaning that they could not feel anything they ran to the cars much to the parent’s dismay as most of the mud and water was going to stay in their cars. Lets hope the weather is better next week mind you if the team can score 16 goals in this weather I am sure it won't make difference.
