A great comback

A very wet and windy day and Bedfont were playing away against Met Police Blues.

Bedfont went straight on the attack at the whistle but they did not seem to be the urgency and the players were not talking to each other. Jack E had the first shot but it went wide followed by a shot from Connor and Kaine but both saved. Suddenly Met Police took advantage of the lack of energy from Bedfont and pushed forward and scored 1-0. Normally this would wake the boys up but nothing changed and minutes later Met Police attacked again and Bedfont were now 2-0 down.
Bedfont pushed back but there was no communication between the players and so they continued losing the ball. Met Police kept pushing forward against a tepid Bedfont team and were awarded a free kick and suddenly were 3 goals up within the first 15 minutes 3-0.
This nearly became 4 goals when they were awarded another free kick but a tremendous save from Nathan denied them. Bedfont had a few attempts with shots from Josh and Lima but it was not until there was only 5 minutes left in the first half that they managed to get a goal back.
Abbas laid a great ball through the defence for Tommy to run onto and he slotted the ball into the corner of the net 3-1.
Half time and with Bedfont still 2 goals down and the players playing like they were still at home in bed some action was needed. The manger spoke to them and whatever was said done the trick as they came out a different team in the second half.
Bedfont came out firing with shots from Michael, Nathan, Tommy and Abbas which were either wide or saved but they fire was back in the players belly’s. It was rewarded minutes later when a great ball from Nathan to Abbas who slammed the ball into the net from well outside the area to make it 3-2. This was followed with another goal from Tommy but this was disallowed due to offside but Bedfont were determined to score. A corner given to Bedfont and Tommy stepped up and laid the ball into the area for Josh to head it in 3-3. The scores were now even and the game was now Bedfonts to win. More shots from Tommy, Shahan, Jimmy, Josh and Michael were close but due to the high winds the ball was either wide or over the top.

The game was now being dominated by Bedfont and they took the lead when Tommy took a shot which the keeper saved by dropped the ball for him to run in and send it into the net 3-4. More shots from Sam and Josh were close but when one of those was cleared by the Met Police keeper and a corner was awarded Sam took it and placed straight to Josh who sent past the keeper 3-5. With only 5 minutes to go Met Police made a final push back, a free kick given to them just outside the goal area and great save again from Nathan denied them another goal but that was not the end. In the final minute a great run from Josh through the Met Police defence and Bedfont all pushed forward and with some great a shot Jimmy scored to make the final score 3-6.

A great come back but if Bedfont had played the whole game like the second half then this would not have given Met Police the chance to take the lead.

Man of the Match was Josh who really took the game to Met Police.

Scorers:
Tommy x 2
Josh x 2
Jimmy x 1
Abbas x 1
