Bedfont Eagles Sports vs Kensington Dragons Youth

Second round of the County Cup and Bedfont were up against Kensington Dragons.

Bedfont kicked off and started pushing forward straight away, shots from Tommy and Abbas were saved within the first 5 minutes. A great run from Michael down the left wing and a great shot from Tommy resulted in the Kensington keeper pulling off a great save to deny Bedfont the first goal. Bedfont were not going to give up and the ball stayed in the Kensington half while shot after shot from Michael, Tommy, Abbas Jimmy and Nathan were saved or just wide.

Kensington made one break into the Bedfont half but there was no quarter given by the defence who reclaimed the ball and control of the game. Fifteen minutes in and the first goal came about when Michael made a great run down the wing and sent the ball into the area and Abbas put into the corner of the net 1-0.

The first goal and Bedfont were determined to get more, Kaine came very close when his shot just went over the top of the cross bar but with only minutes to go in the first half some great football and passing from Bedfont gave them their second goal. Michael passed the ball to Abbas who laid the ball through the defenders, Sam made a run through and sent the ball over the top of the keeper to make it 2-0 at half time.

Kensington kicked off the second half but Bedfont took control straight away. Shots from Tommy, Shahana and Josh came very close but a great ball from Nathan over the head of the Kensington defenders and Josh ran through the defence, he chipped the keeper to make it 3-0. There were too many shots to mention from kaines, Abbas, Jimmy, Sam and Connor but they were all denied.

Kensington came close to scoring when they got the ball at the half way line and decided to take a shot, it arched over the top of the Bedfont players but a great save from Nathan pushed the ball over the cross bar. This was as close as Kensington came to scoring and Bedfont wanted more and they got it when a terrific pass from Jimmy found Josh who twisted and turned in the box and sent the ball into the corner of the goal 4-0.

Another goal followed minutes later when a corner from Shahan went into the Kensington box and for the next minute looked like a pinball as Bedfont tried to score and their defenders tried to clear it but then George ran in. He made sure that this was going nowhere and expertly placed the ball just outside the keepers reach to make it 5-0. Less than 10 minutes to go and then Sam placed the ball into the Shahan and he sent it into the top of the net 6-0. That was the final score but in those last dying minutes there were shots from Connor, Josh and Jimmy which came agonising close to making it more.

Man of the match was Abbas who had a great game and chased the ball down
