Bedfont Eagles Sports U14 vs Oxshott Royal Warriors

Another cup game and this was against Oxshott Royals Warriors with a 1pm kick off.

Bedfont kicked off and Oxshott ran straight at them and put them under pressure but after some fumbling around in the Bedfont defence area Nathan gained the ball and from there on the game changed. Tommy made a great break down the wing and it was a great save from the Oxshott keeper that denied him the first goal. Further shots followed from josh and Nathan but were just wide but minutes after a great pass from Shahan to Jimmy who made a terrific run down the right wing and slipped past the defence and slammed the ball into the top of the net 1-0.

Oxshott kicked off but Bedfont once again gained the ball, Tommy laid the ball across the box to Josh who passed it back to Nathan who placed the ball past the keeper into the corner of the net 2-0. Bedfont were really pushing and the ball did not leave the Oxshott half, shots from Nathan, Tommy and Abbas were just wide or saved.

The Oxshott keeper took the goal kick and the ball landed at Nathans feet, he then made a great run through three defenders and placed the ball into the side of the net 3-0. There was no stopping Bedfont and the pressure was really building on Oxshott who were really given the chance to get into the game. Nathan gained the ball and laid it in from the right wing to Josh who tapped it past the keeper 4-0. Oxshott finally managed to make a break but there was no getting past the Kaine and George on the right wing. Nathan was on fire and came close to getting his hat trick but his shot hit the post.

The next goal came from the left wing when Tommy made the break and laid the ball into the goal area and Abbas took the shot it hit the a defender and went up for josh to make a run in and turn the ball and place it the net 5-0. There was denying Nathan getting the hat trick when Jimmy placed the ball into him and he took the shot just outside the area, it hit the keeper but was spinning so much it leapt out of his hands into the corner of the net. 6-0.

With just over 5 minutes left in the first half Bedfont tried to increase the score even more with shots from Jimmy, Kaine, Josh, Abbas, Tommy, Nathan and even Jack who made a great run from the back were saved or wide. With the referee checking his watch Josh gained the ball and took the shot which the keeper dropped and so he ran in and did not give the him another chance 7-0

The second half started with Bedfont still dominating the game and when Nathan laid the ball onto Sam who then made a run down the wing and placed the ball into the box for Tommy to slot the ball calmly past the keeper to make it 8-0. Further shots from Sam, Shahan were saved but when the goalie dropped the ball Nathan ran in and got his fourth goal 9-0.

Shahan came close again minutes later but once again his shot was saved when it hit the defender and it dropped to Michael who gave the keeper no chance 10-0. There was not stopping Bedfont and they would not allow Oxshott to gain the ball for more than a couple of seconds. Tommy took the ball from Oxshott and made a break and then sent a great pass to Connor who ran onto the pass and slammed it straight into the net 11-0. Oxshott were playing with everyone back but it was not making a difference as Bedfont were not backing off.

Sam gained the ball and made a run down the right wing and laid the ball into box, Jack made a swing at tit but missed but this caught the defenders off guard as he ball carried onto Michael who slammed it in 12-0. Two minutes later and Bedfont were awarded a corner which Jimmy took brilliantly, it went straight to Shahan who finally got his goal 13-0. There was 10 minutes left in the game and the shots from Liam, Michael, Jimmy, Sam were numerous but nowhere near the 15 plus attempts from Jack who was very unlucky not to score. The time ticked away and another shot from Jack was saved and while the defenders were fumbling to clear it Sam smashed it into the net 14-0.

One minute left and a final chance for goal, Sam made a great pass to Nathan who laid it into box for Jack who had only to tap into the net but he sent the ball over the top of the cross bar. Jack was very unlucky not to have scored that goal but it but the added pressure of all the soccer mums screaming his name would have been very off putting but it was a rugby shot to be proud of.

Man of the match was Jack for his sheer determination and laughing at every shot he took.
