Bedfont Sports U14 vs Hanworth Sports

Another cup game but this time through the SYL and Bedfont were facing Hanworth Sports.

The game started well when Bedfont went straight on the attack and for the first 10 minutes the ball did not leave the Hanworth end but then they started pushing back. The first goal came when Tommy ran down the left wing and laid the ball across the box to Sam who shot the ball into the top corner of the net to make it 1-0 to Bedfont. A shot from Shahan minutes later went just wide. Hanworth attacked and came close to equalising when their shot from a free kick was saved by Nathan and for next few minutes the pressure was on Bedfont and it was another save from Nathan that denied them the goal.

Bedfont gained momentum and shots from Tommy and Abbas were saved by the Hanworth keeper. Bedfont got their second goal when Sam laid the ball across to Tommy who ran past the defenders and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0. Hanworth were again awarded a free kick just outside the Bedfont goal area and Nathan once again denied them the goal they were after. The goal kick went to Michael who made the run down the centre and it was only a defender in the way that stopped it becoming another goal but it did result in a corner for Bedfont. Nathan took the corner and Kaine made a great header to make the score 3-0. Hanworth did not give up and for the next 10 minutes pushed back against Bedfont with 2 shots wide and a great one handed save from Nathan who pushed the ball over the cross bar that denied them but their determination caught the Bedfont midfield out and with only Nathan to beat they sent the ball over his head to get their goal 3-1.

There were only minutes left in the first half and some great football from Nathan and Sam took the ball down towards the Hanworth goal, Sam laid the ball into the box and Josh volleyed it in to make the score 4-1 at the half time whistle.

The second half started and Hanworth came out on the attack and once again were awarded a free kick which went just wide. The ball was now being played end to end and Hanworth nearly got the second when their striker went one to one against Nathan but a great block from him denied them again. Shot from Abbas and Tommy were saved and wide but when Shahan sent the ball over the Hanworth defence there was stopping Tommy who scored his second goal 5-1. Bedfont came close minutes later to increasing the score when a great volley from Sam hit the crossbar with further shots from Tommy, Nathan, Sam and Connor saved.

Once again Hanworth caught the Bedfont midfield out and with another one on one with Nathan it looked like Hanworth were going to score but Nathan did enough for the shot to go wide. There was only 2 minutes left and a great run and shot from Michael was saved by the Hanworth keeper but as he pushed it away Josh was there to head the ball into the net to make the final score 6-1 to Bedfont.

A good game but not the best performance from Bedfont as the midfield kept switching off.

Man of the match was Shahan for the great balls he was providing
