What seemed to be the longest pre season ever finally saw the season start for sports. We had to start with a tough FA Cup tie away to little Common FC who had done the double last season, and to add to the tough start we had to travel on a Sunday for a 1pm KO.
Sports started brightly and James Simmonds made it 1-0 to sports on 3 minutes when he turned home Callum Osullivans Shot. Sports dominated the early stages but against the run of play the home side made it 1-1 with an excellent free kick. Sports then added to there troubles with Addison Garnett getting his marching orders for what looked like a shoulder to shoulder challenge 35 yards out. Little Common then dominated until half time as sports tried to settle themselves.
The 2nd half sports were much better despite having 10 men and really should have put the tie to bed, however we found the Little Common keeper in fine form. On 80 Minutes Man of the Match Jack Mills beat 2 men on the touchline and found Sub Tom Neale who opened his account for sports following his summer move. at 2-1 little Common threw men forward and Mills, Sarfo and Neale all should have finished off the home team. More drama was to follow when Callum Osullivan was dismissed for 2nd booking on his debut, and then after a series of corners a deflected shot from the little Common keeper came off Alex Rose and earn the home side a dramatic late draw and the long journey to sports for the replay on Tuesday Night
