Sports see of last seasons CCL champions with the gaffa giving us a glimpse of the future
Sports finally got some revenge over CCL rivals Westfield for the 5-0 home defeat they inflicted apon us last season in the title race. Sports manager Paul Johnson had to call up a number of the youth team lads slightly before it was planned for this season with Harris, Richards and Lemon all missing due to injury, Mills was still missing after the birth of his 1st born, Perry Luckins suspended and Mustafa, Jeff and Abdul all away. In came Last years top scorer for our youth team Jordan Sarfo, This years leading marksman Didi Ndombe, and fellow youth team players Will Plumridge and Patrick Quinn, they were joined by former Westfield man Kiye Martin.
Sports started well and both teams had chances in the 1st half to take the lead but on the whole it was an uneventful 1st half. The 2nd half did come to life when Kiye Martin latched onto Paul Johnsons free kick to make it 1-0 sports on 61 minutes, following westfield being reduced to 10 men. Sports then introduced Didi Ndombe for his 1st team debut, the youth team star didn't take long to show his quality, cutting inside his man to bend the ball past Gary ross in the westfield goal to make it 2-0 sports with his 1st touches. Sean McCormack who had given westfield a torrid time all game then found Charlie Postance with an excellent cross to make it 3-0 to sports. Sports then also introduced Youth team Midfielder Patrick Quinn for his 1st team debut for manager Paul Johnson, much to the delight of the sports faithful.
Next up another of the promotion contenders Cheshunt at home, we might see a few more of the kids !!
