The Sports faced defeat at HOME to Holyport FC on September the 2nd 2023.

Saturday the 2nd of September saw The Sports looking for 3 points after only managing to grab 1 point on the road to Egham Town on bank Holiday Monday!

The Sports lined up with Harry Churchill coming in for Henry Poole to make his Sports debut in between the sticks, Charlie Wickham, Stephen Langley, Louis Dailey and Josh Eatwell all make up the back line, Tommy O'Neil, Max Webb, Jordan Ireland (C) and Thomas Kanek in midfield, topped off with a partnership of Mark Bitmead and James Cottee to lead The Sports attack.

The Sports were walked out by our Bedfont Eagles U9s Sports and Rangers who told us during negotiations for this appearance that "their first time was so nice, they just had to do it twice!!" Our U9s made an appearance with the first team last term and have returned to the Rec for their second appearance!

Attendance - 126

Without being there myself its pretty hard to write a report but for the most part Bedfont were playing some good football before breaking the deadlock on the 25th minute through Mark Bitmead. Sports were bought down a peg on the 41st minute when Holyport began to pressure the Bedfont backline and managed to grab themselves a goal leading into half time at 1-1.

HT - BSFC 1-1 HPFC

The first 10-15 minutes of the second half was the busiest on paper as Holyport knocked in another goal, gaining the advantage 1-2 on the 51st minute. Bedfont needed to at least salvage a draw to avoid any upset, The Sports were knocking on the door but some days are just not your day, Harrison Livingstone having the best opportunity of the match but not finding the target see the final score finish 1-2 to the visitors!

FT - BSFC 1-2 HPFC

The Sports now sit 10th in the Division and its safe to say our introduction to CCL Prem North has been far from straight forward, Saturday's defeat is even harder to take when you take into account both Burnham and Rayners Lane dropped points this weekend meaning a win would have pulled us closer to the stand out performers of the League at this point. Now The Sports will be hoping to change their fortunes in the upcoming fixtures but without The Sports faithful getting behind the side it will be just that bit harder without you!

Massive thank you to all the Holyport FC fans and officials and congratulations to the Holyport side who worked hard for their first 3 points of the season, we look forward to visiting you in the return fixture. But I can not finish without thanking all the Bedfont Eagles U9s coaches, players and their parents for coming down to The Rec again, we hope you had an even better time than the last and Eddy looks forward to seeing you all in the near future!
