Adam Roberts comes off the bench to secure sports 3 valueable points late on at Horley

With Dean Thomas and Jack Harman returning to the team Bedfont where hoping for a positive performance and that is what they got.

Bedfont started the game with an attacking mind set playing with two forwards in Jamie Read and Jordan Esprit with young Darryl Sanders acting as a third forward whenever possible. This formation allowed Bedfont to start on the front foot and they were certainly the dominant team in the first 20 minutes.

However Horley are a stronger group this year and had a dangerous wide player playing up against stand in left back Adam Fearn. Horley used this player as often as possible and Fearn normally a midfield player took a while to come to terms with the pace of the winger. Horleys attacks were generally on the break as Bedfont had more of the possession.

The decision making by the Bedfont players in the attacking third was poor and they were trying to create situations that weren't there consequently their dominant play tended to end with little reward.

This was discussed at half time and in the end it was a piece of quality in that area of the field that won the game.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Bedfont playing in the Horley half of the field. Dean Thomas was switched from a holding midfield position to an attacking one and this caused Horley a number of problems. As the game wore on it could have gone either way.

Mick Snowden made a tactical substitution bringing on a third forward Adam Roberts and dropping Sanders back into a midfield position so now Bedfont were playing a 4. 3. 3 formation.
Roberts has been a real find this season and has already scored a number of important goals and he did so again in this match.

The ball was held up by Esprit and for once Bedfont were patient in their build up. The ball was retained and worked out to Pitt in the right he played a one two and then slid the ball into the path of Roberts who finished really well into the far corner giving the keeper no chance.

Overall a decent if somewhat nervous performance from Bedfont which is understandable after their last two results. The negative from this game was that Dean Thomas picked up an ankle injury late on, which will make him doubtful for the game on Tuesday.
