The Sports squeeze the Tangerines of all their juice!

Tuesday the 10th of October 2023 saw The Sports face a visit from local step 4 side Ashford Town.

To start for the Sports: Henry Poole in goal, Tommy O'Neill, Josh Eatwell, Charlie Wickham and Stephan Langley at the back, Thomas Kanek, Kyle Eakin and Harrison Livingstone in midfield while a young Sports frontline of Makael Scott, Jared Myers and Aston Greaver complete the Sports attack.

Ashford started the half controlling much of the ball but not doing much with it while the young Sports were looking very sharp on the counter attack. On the 11th minute the ball is played to new signing 18 year old Makael Scott, he flicks the ball over the Ashford right back beats the next man with pure pace takes a shot which the keeper saves only for Aston Greaver to tap home the loose ball 1-0. Almost immediately the Sports were saved by Tommy O'Niell with a goal line clearance, 35 minutes in and Makael picks up a loose ball, bursts into the space down the centre of the pitch and with all the time in the world Makael smashes the ball home for a 2-0 lead.

The second half started with Ashford trying their best to half the deficit but a resilient Sports side held firm and defended well while also creating plenty of opportunities for themselves to extend the scoreline. On the 65th minute Josh Eatwell bombs down the right hand side gets himself into a great position and whips an inch perfect ball into the box for Dawson to leap up and nod home Bedfont's 3rd goal of the game, 3-0. Now the Sports were taking control of the game and the crowd behind Henry Poole began to empty, Effy breaks the Ashford back line, chips the goalkeeper only for his shot to hit the post. On the 84th minute The Sports broke the Ashford line again with some great play which finds Alfie Lal who unselfishly slot in Dawson who smashes the ball into the top left corner for his second and Bedfont's 4th, 4-0!

FT - BSFC 4-0 ATFC

This result gets The Sports into the next round of the Middlesex Senior Cup. Overall a fantastic result considering The Sports started with a very young side, beating a well established step 4 side there is only positives to take from this result. Makael made his debut and massively impressed proving to be a very good addition. 18 year old Makael picked up a debut MOTM, he was an absolute menace to say the least, created plenty of problems in the first half and sent the 3 home with nightmares! Sports fans should look forward to the energy this lad brings.

Bedfont Sports face Broadfields United at The Rec on Saturday the 14th of October at 3PM, some new yet old faces may be lining up for The Sports this weekend and with the fans support I'm sure the boys can continue this good run of form.
