What a lovely day to play our first ever competitive Semi Final against a team from Div 1, Farnham Youth..
The weather was horrific.... cold wet rainy, windy and the pitch had just been played on before we started.
Bedfont was in the mood for this I could tell the way the boys were focused in the warm up and during the team talk....
The game started with Farnham applying some early pressure but Bedfonts defence and Goal keeper was in fine form. Our wing men (Diego and Andrew) was going to be key in todays game. Some fine work from Diego played in Nojus to open up the scoring 1-0 Bedfont.
Farnham gained a corner more or less from the KO were Bedfont struggled to clear resulting in a flick on from Callahan going in our own net from Joel..... 1-1.
Bedfont moved into second gear playing some great football from back to front so it wouldn't be long before we had another chance on the Farnham goal, lucky for us it fell to goal hungry Callahan who carried on scoring from last week (bottom right hand corner) 2-1 and half time.
I said to the players during the break that the next goal would be vital and again lucky for us the ball feel to Callahan's left foot were he struck a mean shoot that looped in over a Farnham's trailing foot and over the goal keeper 3-1 and Callahan's second.
Bedfont was in full steam ahead mode showing no holding back going forward, Andrew had a great game down the right hand side and his hard work helped towards Bedfonts 4th, Andrew chased down the Farnham defender to win the ball deep in there half were he set the ball back to Callahan to whip in a great cross onto the head of Nojus to head home 4-1 and a great team goal.
Lavante had a great game in goal today showing how much he has come on as a young goal keeper stopping some good shots on goal, Jack Dennis and Joel were as solid as always showing some good defensive work.
Midfield four of Callahan, Robert, Andrew and Diego all worked tirelessly today with the wide men tracking back as well as making some great runs forward. Callahan and Robert are showing some good understanding together and of course Goal machine Nojus up front bring a different element to his game something we have been working on in training has finally starting to show in his game play...
Zain and Georgie came on with 15 minutes to go and both slotted in well with Zain causing problems down the right side and Georgie partnering Nojus up front and came close hitting the post from close range.
Bedfont had another goal in them and they saved the best until last, a Bedfont corner was swung in by Andrew, cleared by a Farnham defender to the edge of the box were Callahan hit a full Volley left foot shot into the bottom right hand corner leaving the Farnham goal keeper rooted to the spot.
ALL THE BOYS PLAYED 100% were the MOM award was giving to Callahan Keadell.
