Well pressure was on after the cup loss when i last coached with Teresa, but this time I was on my own and I asked the boys to help us keep the winning run and stay top of the table. Well the boys did not disappoint and all played their part in a great game.

Abbey Rangers started well and the game was tight at first, with Bedfont under a little bit of pressure, but the midfield of Adam and Robert and back three of Jack, Joel and Callaghan were holding firm. Bedfont got a corner and Callaghan stepped up to take it. A busy goal mouth led to a goal from Zain, 1-0 Bedfont. Abbey were continuing to play well and the game remained competitive with some strong tackles from both teams, but the ref was letting the game play which was good to see. Bedfont then played a lovely bit of football with Nojus playing the ball through for Diego to run on and score a great goal, 2-0 Bedfont. Unfortunately in scoring Diego banged his knee and was helped off the pitch to put on an ice pack. On came George in his place and fitted into the way we were playing well. Bedfont now had the bit between their teeth and started to stretch their legs and dominate the game. From an Abbey Rangers goal kick the ball game out to Adam who played a first time ball through to Nojus who beat the offside trap and scored his first and Bedfont’s third. Half time came and the boys had done brilliantly. The icepack had done its job and Diego was fit to come back on and George returned back to bench, but he still had a role to play later.

The goals kept coming and with Nojus going from goal scorer to provider, he slipped the ball through to Zain who’s shot rebounded off the post for Diego who was showing no ill effects of the knock, scored, 4-0. The game remained physical but Bedfont were winning the majority of the battles and our back line with Levante solid in goal were keeping things tight and leaving the attacking play to continue. The goals kept coming with the next one from a free kick in our half, Callaghan passed through to Nojus who broke free and chipped the goalie, 5-0. George came on for Robert and we shuffled the midfield and with the game won, we did lose a bit of shape as everyone wanted to get in on the goals. Next came Nojus again, this time from a short corner and he scored on the volley. With Callaghan breaking from defence he went through the midfield and took the ball right through on goal and smashed in Bedfont’s seventh. With George giving the team width, he had broken through a couple of times but not quite finished, but it wasn’t long and another through ball this time from Callaghan and George scored to make it 8-0. With the clocking ticking and only seconds left, Abbey Rangers who had kept going against a good Bedfont team finally got through and with a scramble in the goal after Bedfont lost the ball they pulled one back. Final whistle 8-1 to Bedfont.
