Friday 12th see Bedfont Eagles U16's come to an end, The boys, coaches and parents all gathered together for one final time to celebrate nearly 10 years together.... the journey started at Spelthorne Sports U7's which lasted one season when Terry came calling which was a no Brainer which i have never looked back on... The team has had a selected core of 6-8 players that have been with me from day 1 through to U16 and its been a pleasure to watch them grow as players, boys and into men....
During our time at Bedfont we have one two league titles and a league cup, and if it wasn't for lock down we was in another league cup final and second in the league with games in hand which im sure we would had won both (Gutted)
The presentation evening was an emotional one (for me anyway) we had a great show of support from friends and family which was lovely to see which showed the support parents/family and friends have given the players over the seasons....
Myself and Leah shared the presentation with an even share of the players to talk about which was hard to hold back the tears... (of joy)
We was still discussing the awards, even on the morning of the presentation...
Parents Player - was Voted and the winner was Matthew Johnson who has had a great season which has seen him called upon more often than i would had wanted.... Matty has had some great games through a very challenging hard season, some of Mattys saves and performances has been awesome which has gained his side some valuable points.
Players Player -was obviously voted by the players which see our captain Joel Brewer gain the award.... Joel has been like a 3rd coach at times, his passion, determination and commitment to the team is second to none, Joel from the first time i meet him has given me 110% in everything he has done even in training when some hold back, Joel is 100 MPH showing the other players he means business...
Managers Player - was voted by me, Kav and Leah where we all agreed Billy Nixon should get this award, this season has been a hard demanding one for all the players which has seen all our defenders and goalkeepers being very busy this season, (more than i wanted) so with that in mind Billy deserved this award for his gritted performances he has given this season, Billy has never moaned or complained about the positions his played in, some have been questionable (from my decisions) if im honest.... Well done Billy
Most Contribution - this was a very hard award to single down to one player, there was so many that was in the running for this... Dennis, Hayden, Adam, Joe, Andrew, Robert, Ant, Charlie B (10 years service) Nojus, George S, Charlie C, Alex all have been with the team for nearly 10 years if it wasn't for short spells at other clubs, time out of the game, or moving over from Leah's original team all these where discussed, Ben Newman for his 100% commitment over the last 2-3 seasons with limited game time, but Ben has always showed a great outstanding attitude who has stood by the team through out.... all the players ... all of the mentioned all had a good shout for this award but for me which was a hard decision because of the choice i made was made with me questioning my decision as i wanted it to be fair.... as the Award says "Most Contributed" this player has been with us from the start and has scored some vital goals not only this season but from when he first kicked a ball, Callahan Keadell has been top goal scorer in every season he had played in from the start to the finish.... i don't think anyone can argue, this is an achievement in its self and deserves the award...
Charlie Borg has served the club for 10 years which he will be presented his award in the first team presentation evening..... well done Charlie....
I couldn't get my words out on the night and left you all with a "Thank You" from me but what i really wanted to say was..... ive enjoyed every minute coaching the team from start to finish, from the players that finished with us and all the players that have moved on and left us for one reason or another, you parents have been brilliant with all the support you have given me (even though i see you questioning some of my choices/decisions) you have trusted me in what im trying to achieve for the boys and team....
A special mention also to Teresa and Bill, Teresa has been by my side from the days at Spelthorne sorting out match days and arraignments with the opposing teams making the running of the team for match days run smoothly with really nothing for me of the players to worry about... all the players see is the away teams turning up for the match but none of them see the hard work behind the seen to make this happen leaving on the game for the players to consentraight on....
Bill has been our kit sponsor for several seasons now, Bill has committed to the team but sponsoring there Match tops which has also helped us look the top team we are, the boys have been wearing there shirts with bills family business on the front with pride.... thank you Bill

All the players are a credit to you all and we should all be very proud of them which im sure you all are....good luck to all the boys in there GCSE and all the best in the future.... hopefully one day our paths will cross again.... all the best Mark
