Today is going to be an emotional day for all, some of the players have been together for 8-9 years as a team, some have been at the club for 10 years playing as players and today marked the end of a great team with great players and awesome parents who have supported us for years...

Some players were unable to make todays game, Andrew, Anthony and Michael but we still had 16 players taking part in there final game for Bedfont Sports U16 team.

The game started as we left off against manercroft last week, fast pace, quick tempo with the "leave nothing behind" mentality... this paid off with Bedfont winning a free kick just outside the box were Alex whipped in a great ball for Oliver to head home the opener from the far stick to put his team in front.... 1-0 Bedfont... the game was being played at a good tempo from both teams which see Mayford take a foot hold in the game but the Bedfont midfield and defence stood firm with Matty making some important saves and defenders making some important blocks... Mayford did score from some good play which see the score be 1-1. We changed the formation half wat through the half due to Mayford having a lot of the ball in the middle of the pitch which was causing us problems, with this change see us gain the midfield battle back which see George work his magic down the left side for him to pop up on the edge of the box to Cooley slot the ball into the back of the Mayford goal and put his team 2-1 up....

The boys were hungry and wanted more so we pressed again which see Aaron smash the ball home from some good play through the midfield 3-1 Bedfont with half time sounding...

The boys were upbeat at half time but we remained focused on the job we all had to do... we said that the next goal would be important for both teams depending who scores it and that we need to stay on point with everything we do...

The second half started and Mayford where on the front foot from the word "go" they pressed and pressured the Bedfont team that stood firm for 10-15 minutes but Mayford managed to get the first goal of the second half which you could see how much it meant to them 3-2 .... game on...

Bedfont didn't seem phased by Mayford scoring, we kept playing our football which see a brave header from Callahan put through Aaron clean on goal to slot the ball home and give his team a 4-2 lead with 15 minutes to go...

You would think that the boys would shut up shop and see the game out.... but no... not our boys.. they thought it would be a good idea to let Mayford score another 4-3 and give me and all the parents a nervous last 10 minutes with Mayford constantly peppering our goal with free kicks, shots, making Matty pull off saves etc... we went to 5 at the back and all the players put in a shift to defend there lead and there goal... the game ended 4-3 with Bedfont securing the 3 points and back to back wins...

we have our club presentation this coming Friday which im sure they may be a tear or two shed. and that's just from me ... LOL
