Eagles U16's 8 v Heathrow Club Youth U16's 0
Eagles played their first game of 2017 at home to Heathrow Club from the Wycombe & South Bucks League, in the 1/4 final of the Middlesex County Cup. We started very well, pinning the oppo in their own 18 yard box, but we could find the vital pass or shot to register a goal. Wave after wave of Eagles pressure finally was rewarded with a goal, Ryan getting the all important 1st goal. Heathrow were struggling to get a touch of the ball as Eagles were passing & moving the ball quickly on a very difficult surface. Ryan got in front of his defender & was about to pull the trigger, when he was fouled. A booking for the defender & a penalty kick. Troy stepped up & despatched the ball into the corner of the net, 2-0. Heathrow started to put some passes together themselves & were rewarded with a couple of corners. Daniel dealt with these & it was good to see the 3 centre backs offering themselves for the ball at every possibility. Chris notched a 3rd just before halftime, to give the score-line a healthier outlook.
The 2nd half continued in the same vein as the 1st & Mik scored a 10 minute hat-trick, to see us go 6-0 up. Heathrow did manage to create a scoring opportunity, but when called upon Daniel made the save to keep Heathrow out. Bedfont were now attacking at pace & Jay put a delightful ball through for Hamzah to make it 7-0. Billy & Matty, swung some great corners in, but we didn'y capitalise on these(something to work on again in training). Kyle was back on & he added the 8th.
A great team performance, by all 16 players, we need to continue this effort into the league & move up the table.
