The Eagles bounce back to beat Kingswood Utd

Sunday 17th September 2023, The Eagles travelled to Kingswood Utd for our second league fixture of the season.

The starting line up for The Eagles: Jayden in goal, back five of Jack, Riley, Zak, Kallum and Deon, a midfield three of Ikenna, Mason and Karma with Vince and Will leading the line.

The first half began with both sides feeling their way into the game, The Eagles had more more of the ball but needed to make it count. 15 minutes in and Vincent brakes down the right flank, crosses the ball only for the Kingswood defender to handle it forcing the ref to blow for a penalty. Riley stepped up and converted the spot kick with conviction, 1-0! On the 20th minute Donald is subbed on only to score his first goal of the season in a matter of seconds giving The Eagles a 2-0 lead heading into half time.

HT - KUFC 0-2 BEFC

From kick off Mason and Will link up to slot Vincent in who takes his shot first touch on the half turn and tucks the ball into the bottom right corner earning The Eagles a 3-0 lead. 5 minutes into the second half and Kingswood hit The Eagles back with a long range effort, 3-1. Vincent found his shooting boots in the second half as he hit back with his second of the game giving The Eagles a 4-1 advantage. Kingswood were not giving up and pegged us back again when their forward got the better of 2/3 tackles to finish with a spectacular goal 4-2. Ikenna decided he wants in with an outrageous curling effort straight into the top right hand corner earning The Eagles a 5-2 lead. Finally to finish the game in the 65th minute Will breaks down the left hand side, crosses the ball when none other than Big Vince jumps up and sticks his head on the ball, guiding it into the top right corner and grabbing his first hat trick of the season! 6-2.

FT KUFC 2-6 BEFC

Overall a massive 3 points for The Eagles, defeating Kingswood who last season dealt us our first loss in the league. The game was full of ups but The Eagles were hit with a huge blow as Kallum who has been outstanding all pre season and has warranted his place in the starting line up recently picked up an unfortunate injury, I hope Kallum has a speedy recovery and is back to his best with the group very soon. MOTM was given to Deon as everyone who watched this game would have seen he was unbelievable. Well done Deon keep this work up! Special shout out to Big Vince as its harsh to take MOTM away from a lad who scores 3 goals but he himself knows just how good Deon was Sunday, 4 goals in 2 games is a fantastic start!

That said the whole Eagles U13s team should be proud of the performance and result as the whole team was great from top to bottom!

Next week we face Manorcroft Spitfires at Home and The Eagles will look to start a run of form.
