Saturday the 9th of September saw The Sports travel to The KAMTECH Stadium to face Risborough Rangers FC.
The Sports lined up with Harry Churchill in goal, Charlie Wickham, Josh Eatwell, Louis Dailey and Scott Weight at the back, Tommy O'Neill, Jordan Ireland and Max Webb complete The Sports' midfield while Mark Bitmead, Harrison Livingstone and James Cottee lead The Sports front line.
The game started pretty end to end with Risborough Rangers coming out better off in the opening exchanges after earning the advantage on the 23rd minute with a clinical left footed finish from Lewis Toomey, 1-0 RRFC. The Sports then hit back on the 33rd minute with a cheeky long range effort from Mark Bitmead which found itself dipping under the bar to even the scores, 1-1. Bedfont continued to knock on the Rangers door eventually getting their reward from a corner with a volley from new signing Scott Weight taking The Sports 2-1 up into half time.
HT - RRFC 1-2 BSFC
The second half was underway and The Sports came out really slow, we were quickly punished for this slow start to the second half when Michael Harding stepped up to smash the ball into the roof of the net from close range, 2-2. Risborough looked a lot sharper in the second half playing some good football but a stubborn Sports side wouldn't allow Rangers to knock them back. On the 78th minute the tide changed for Rangers as Alex Sethi was shown a red card by the referee, The Sports now sensed blood and were on the all out attack believing all 3 points were up for grabs. The 88th minute saw The Sports grab all 3 points when that man again Mark Bitmead scored his 9th goal in 8 matches to give The Sports a 3-2 lead with a few minutes left to play!
FT RRFC 2-3 BSFC
MOTM today was none other than Mark Bitmead, no explanation needed but I've been told not to big him up too much so Bits you were just average today mate! ;D Jokes aside The Sports really needed a result today and hopefully this kick starts a run of form for the lads who continue to show that never say die attitude. This result now moves The Sports to 9th in the CCL Prem North with our next fixture coming up on the 16th Sept 2023 at home to Ardley United FC who currently sit 1 place ahead of The Sports in 8th.
Massive thank you to Risborough Rangers for hosting us and we look forward to meeting you again in the reverse fixture at The Rec!
