Our new youth team manager takes the reins

Our new youth team manager takes the reins

Terry Reader11 May 2015 - 11:59

Bedfont Sports are delighted to announce that Simon Edwards has agreed to step up and take the reins of our excellent youth team.

Bedfont Sports have a reputation of producing some of the best youth squads in Non league football, and in our new manager we have selected the very best youth manager in middlesex over the past few years. Simon joins the senior set up and already has his backroom team in place, here is a brief introduction to the team.
So over to simon for his 1st managers notes !
Firstly I would like to thank Terry and Dave for offering the role to me. I have been involved with this seasons youth team and it has given me good grounding For the coming season.
My task has not been made easy. To follow on from Terry is competition enough but his Fine group of players were also very successful winning the county cup and combined county cup as well as runners up in the league. Given the standard of Clubs involved that was a fantastic achievement. Being part of the set up was really enjoyable and I like to think that my relationship with that team grew as the season went on.
Some of those boys will be with us for next season as second years and their experience will be invaluable for the group and the year ones that I hope to bring in. The squad has a core but we look to make sure all areas are covered with good options. One of the key elements I found with Terry’s squad was the spirit in which they played. We hope to emulate that spirit within our group.
I am delighted to introduce Mark Fewings into the fold as my assistant Manager. Mark and I grew up together and played in representative schools football as well as youngsters at Chelsea for several seasons. He is no stranger to Bedfont having played with me for a great Bedfont Sunday side. Mark moved into Management early and Managed Feltham FC before taking up a successful role at Hampton and Richmond fc. (Hampton fc then!!) Mark has also experience of the combined counties with his managerial time at
Bisley Sports. We are all delighted that Maria Serpent our physio will be looking after us and keeping everyone in check. Her beaming smile and mother hen nature assures us that the boys are looked after and very respectful to each other. Beware anyone who wants to mess with us!! Alex Wines has agreed to be my goalkeeping coach once more and his help with the Sunday group has been fantastic. Marcus Oreilly is also on my watch. Always willing to help in any way he can and always a good ear to the ground as well as a trusted friend. I am also delighted that Duncan Mckelvie will be supplying some chicken dinners. His in-depth knowledge of the game and coaching skills will be invaluable and If the entire group is as enthusiastic as him then we will create something special.

So great back up for me with my backroom staff. Experienced people who know the club, have grown up in the club, already contributed greatly to the club and fresh faces to add to the club. I also know some of the new faces coming into the club which assures me that everything is being done to push our club forward.

Our aim does not change to play good football, be respectful to each other and our opposition and to be the best we can possibly be. If we are successful and win awards then that is a bonus not a given.
