Eagles U16 vs Doverhouse Lions Blues
This was a great performance from all the boys today
Eagles U16 vs Doverhouse blues
We have played Doverhouse twice this season and lost on both occasions. So, this was a challenge for the boys to pick themselves up for this game. I changed the formation for today’s game and it worked. Doverhouse like to play tough and if you’re not up for the fight then they will hurt you, which they’ve done to us before. As I said previously, I changed the formation and from the off Bedfont didn’t let Doverhouse settle and let them play and it made them make wrong decisions. They couldn’t get into a rhythm and that was down to Bedfont working hard for the first 20 mins. Bedfont then started to get more of the ball and play some good football and created a couple of chances. The break then came for Bedfont, we won the ball in midfield, Jake won the ball and played it to Sidney, who turned their defender, Jordan made a run pass Sidney and Sidney chip the ball over their defender to him and he hit it first time into their goal. Great finish. 1-0.
The game started to heat up, but Bedfont didn’t back down and should’ve scored again with a great play down the left between Gideon and Bradley. Bradley won the and passed it to Gideon, he then ran into the box and squared it across the six yard box for Sidney to stretch a leg out only to knock it wide of goal. As the first half was coming to an end Doverhouse broke down Bedfont’s right and got a cross over for their winger at our back post hit it first time into our goal to make it 1-1 halftime.
The first half was tight, but the second half was the opposite as Bedfont started on the front foot and created chances and should’ve scored earlier than they did. When Bedfont did score it took a great run from Gideon down the left where he played a one two with Reiss Spencer. Gideon ran into the box onto his pass and hit the ball into the far corner of their goal. 2-1. This was nothing more than Bedfont deserved in my eyes, because we were playing some good football. However, Doverhouse had other ideas and it wasn’t long before they scored their second, with another cross into our box and their striker was there to head it into our net. 2-2. Sloppy second goal to give away, but this didn’t stop Bedfont and it wasn’t long before we scored, and it was Reiss Spencer again. We won the ball in midfield and Jordan played it into Sidney who turned and played a through ball for Reiss to hit it first time to make it 3-2.
For me Sidney and Reiss caused havoc all game and Doverhouse couldn’t deal with the both of them. It was those two again who teamed up for our fourth goal. Reiss won the ball and squared it to Sidney, who in turn squared it across the box for Mason to hit it into an empty goal, great goal 4-2. The fifth goal was different to all the others, this time coming with an assist our goal keeper, Mitchell hit it long as it came down a Doverhouse defender missed the ball only for Reiss to latch onto it and he had a one on one with their keeper and Reiss smashed it hard and low into their the goal. 5-2
Bedfont where all over Doverhouse and confidence was high and every time Bedfont broke they looked like scoring. The sixth goal came down our right with Jake and Ryan Bishton winning the ball and playing a one two with each other and Ryan knocking the ball pass their defender he then hit a first time ball over for Reiss to head it into their net. Just when I thought it was over Bedfont scored. Reiss Spencer scoring yet again, Doverhouse tried to clear the ball, but it went straight to our midfielder Jordan who played it into Mason who turned it and played a through ball for Reiss to run onto and hit it first time. 7-2. This is how it finished.
This was a great performance from all the boys today. I’m so proud off the boys today it was a great way to win just before the Christmas break.
Merry Christmas everyone.
