Eagles played Ascot United & came up against an old boy(Fabio). Everything that Danny & I had said at training on Saturday had gone out the window by 10.15 as only 8 boys were here!!!! Anyway enough said!! The game started as normal for Eagles, early pressure but no reward for the openings created. This was until Chris finished from 6 yards to give us the lead. Although this wasn't for long as Jake was adjudged to have fouled the Ascot attacker in the box, so a penalty was awarded. The Ascot player stroked the ball into the net, so 1-1 at half time.
Changes were made and this was causing Eagles problems as the shape in midfield was now affected. Ascot were getting to the final third, but resilient defending was keeping them at bay. Eagles were creating chances too & Mik & Kyle had efforts either saved or missing the target. Pressure was starting to tell & Chris was in the right place at the right time to tap in his second & the winner.
A solid defensive performance, but next week we need to up the ante as we defend our County Cup away at Acton & Ealing Whistlers.
