Bedfont Eagles Sports U15 vs G4G FC
Could have been a win instead of a draw
Bedfont were playing G4G for the first time and felt confident as they turned up with only 10 men for the game.
Bedfont kicked off but it took them while to settle down. The first opportunity went to G4G who shot wide but Bedfont followed that up with shots from Josh, Jimmy, Jacob and Jack C but these just went wide or were saved.
Bedfont kept the pressure up when they were awarded a corner which George headed just over the top. The just as suddenly G4G made a break and ran down the wing they took the shot which was stopped by Nathan but unfortunately dropped for them to tap it in. With only 10 men and they had taken the lead 0-1. This was followed up minutes later when they were awarded a free kick and it went straight in 0-2.
With minutes left in the first half Sam took a shot which hit the keeper and rolled over the line who then picked it up and moved it back out The referee said he did not see if it was a goal and asked the G4G linesman who denied the goal despite the player’s protests.
The score remained with Bedfont 2 goals behind 0-2 at the half time whistle.
Second half started and Josh came close within minutes when hit the post, Jack E shot over the top, Nathans shot went wide and Kaine’s header went wide. Bedfont were putting the pressure on G4G but not getting it in the net. Another shot from Jack E was saved but dropped to Jack C who side stepped the defender and sent the ball into the corner of the net 1-2.
Minutes later he Jack C followed it up with another cracking strike to make the score level at 2-2.
Both teams were now trying to get the advantage and it looked like it was going to be Bedfont when Jack C scored his third goal but for it to be disallowed for being offside. As Jack C had to go round the defender it was hard to see how this was offside but this decision was from the same linesman who could not see the ball go over the line.
Further shots followed from Jack C, Nathan, Josh but once again G4G made a break and as Nathan ran out to meet the striker he chipped the ball over his head to make it 2-3.
Bedfont were determined to not lose this and went forward but despite shots from the team the goal did not arrive until a G4G layer tried to clear the ball and made a stunning header straight into the back of his own net 3-3
The final score was 3-3
Even though G4G only turned up with 10 players they played a good game but some of their linesman’s decisions were very hard to take and left a bad taste. Bedfont did not play well with their passing falling short or the players keeping the ball too long. This gave them the draw instead of a win.
