Sports take the short trip to local rivals Spelthorne Sports for what on the face of it seems a mid-table bank holiday league clash, however with the amount of players that have oved between the 2 clubs in recent seasons I'm sure the game will take much of a competitive nature. Spelthorne have a number of former sports names in there ranks who all played under Mick Snowden, Jacob Fuller, Dane Buss, Robbie Sitch, Tommy Mooney, Joe Dyett all now feature for Spelly who are also lead by 'the King' Jamie Read who will always have a fond place in all Sports fans hearts after his goals kept us in the league during Mick Snowdens mission impossible season.
Sports Gaffa Paul Johnson, who managed Spelly in the most successful era in the history has worked hard since taking over at Sports from Snowden last season. Sports have a few Spelly faces in there ranks in the shape of Conner Moody and Big Jeff, however in the last 4 weeks we have seen Joe Goodman come in from Spelly and also there Skipper Jake Hicks who is In line to make his Bedfont Sports debut against his former club on 2nd Jan. Johnson has quietly gone about his business in building a competitive team for sports, bringing in some experienced players to go with the excellent youth team players that have been a trademark for Bedfont Sports. Youth team skipper Joe Smith made his full debut in the 1-0 win against North Greenford, and along with Connagh Wilks, James Greenwood and the Wizard Darryl Sanders sports have kept this tradition in providing opportunities for quality youth team players.
The game has all the makings of an excellent encounter which both sides will just not want to lose, so join us on the road for an 11.30am KO at Spelthorne Sports for our 1st game of 2017.
