Bedfont Eagles Sports vs Burpham Juniors
Slow to react
Bedfont were paying Burpham away with 2pm kick off.
The team arrived at very wet pitch and tried to keep warm, Bedfont kicked off but straight away Burpham went on the attack. First blood went to Nathan Green when he scored but the goal was disallowed for being offside.
Burpham came straight back but their shot was saved by Luke for corner, Burpham laid the ball in a mad scramble in the box resulted in Burpham scoring 1-0. Bedfont came straight back and as shot from Jack E was saved. The second goal came when they made a break and caught the defence out which put Burpham two goals ahead 2-0. The game was going end to end with shots from Darren, Nathan and Jack E and 3 further shots from Burpham one of which was saved on the line by Ammin. Half time arrived and the score remained 2-0 to Burpham.
Second half started and Bedfont went straight on the attack with a shot from Sam which was saved but the frustration was getting to the players and a yellow card given to Jack E did not help. Bedfont seemed to be doing well but a goal kick from Burpham soared over the heads of the Bedfont defence for their striker to run onto, our defence could not keep up and Luke held his line but the ball went into the corner of the net to make it 3-0. Minutes later exactly the same thing happened and Bedfont had not learned anything as the striker ran onto the ball. This time Luke came out to meet the player but he chipped the ball over his head to score 4-0.
Shots from Matt and Sam were saved but Burpham were not finished. A great one handed save from Luke gave them the corner which was taken brilliantly for a Burpham player to head the ball into back of the net 5-0 and with only minutes left Bedfont tried to salvage some pride but shots from Kieron and Ivan went wide and saved. Then Burpham were awarded a free and they finished game with another goal 6-0.
Bedfont were slow to react and paid for it today but Burpham let themselves down after the game when one of their players started to make racial remarks to Darren, which has now been reported to the FA.
