Young guns start with a win
Tough start but 3 points on the board
Simon Edwards young guns could not have got a tougher start against a well drilled, pacey Hendon team who will be one of the main contenders this season.
With Holidays still in full force sports travelled without several key players to Hendon and in the early stages it looked like it would be a tough night for our young guns. After 10 Minutes we were 1-0 down and if not for some committed defending it could have been more as Hendon Laid siege to the sports goal. But as the game wore on our young inexperienced team grew into the game and started to carve out our own chances. Jamie Hope and Nic Osbourne carried our main goal threat. Bang on half time Hope made it 1-1 with an excellent well taken solo goal to send us in at the break at 1-1.
The 2nd half was more end to end with both teams having a real go to secure the points. Hendon went into the lead again on 60 minutes to make it 2-1 but this seemed to drive sports forward. On came powerful forward Jay Reader who asked real questions of the Hendon back line. Kane Moody was getting more and more of the ball as we grew in confidence and Luca Robinsons MOM performance in the middle of the park was a testament of all of bedfonts endeavour. It was skipper Lewis Wood who drew us level on 70 Minutes with a back post header. Jamie Hope then made it 3-2 sports when Kane Moody found him to smash the ball home. Jay Readers hard work paid off when on 77 Minutes he completed the scoring after seeing his shot make it over the line.
Sports get off the mark with an excellent 3 points and more importantly some big opportunities for our players to play at this level for the 1st time. Next up its Wealdstone on Wednesday Night at home
